ATP Submits Austin Light Rail Phase 1 into Project Development Under the Federal Transit Administration’s Capital Investment Grant New Starts Program
Austin Transit Partnership (ATP) continues to advance Austin Light Rail with a recently submitted request to enter project development under the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Capital Investment Grant New Starts Program for the Austin Light Rail Phase 1 Project. Also underway is the review by FTA of ATP’s draft New Recipient Submittal Package that supports the federal process for grant recipient designation. Items in this package are current as of September 2023, and are subject to change based on feedback from FTA or to reflect new project information.

The Austin Transit Partnership (ATP) is the local government corporation responsible for implementing Project Connect and leading Austin Light Rail.
ATP is responsible for the day-to-day implementation, planning, financing, execution and oversight of Austin Light Rail.
In November 2020, Austin voters approved a referendum (“Prop A”) to provide a dedicated revenue stream to fund investments in Project Connect, a program of transit improvements, including Austin Light Rail.
