Community Expert Board Member Qualifications

Area of Expertise

Qualifications as defined in ATP Articles of Incorporation

Area of Expertise and Qualifications*

Finance

  • At least 10 years of experience in finance, financial management, banking or investing with a focus on large capital projects; and
  • Experience with budget over $250M and/or comparable academic financial policy experience.

Engineering & Construction

  • At least 10 years of experience in engineering or construction of large capital projects in any sector (transit, energy, industrial, commercial); and
  • Experience with multiple projects over $100M (price/value/cost) or $250M cumulative. 

Community Planning or Sustainability

  • At least 10 years of experience in urban planning, community planning, equitable Transit Oriented Development (eTOD), sustainability, and/or environmental planning; and
  • Experience with community engagement with preferably three (3) to five (5) years of specific experience.

ATP Community Expert Directors Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee is composed of the chairs of the City Council Audit and Finance Committee, the City Council Mobility Committee, the CapMetro Finance, Audit and Administration Committee, and the CapMetro Operations, Planning and Safety Committee. Applications were screened by ATP staff and referred to the Nominating Committee so the Committee may take up their process in October.

Application Process

Applications must be received by 5 p.m. September 27, 2024. Update: The application intake process is currently closed. 

(The application deadline may be modified to meet the Nominating Committee’s schedule if needed.)

The Austin City Council and CapMetro Board of Directors will consider the Nominating Committee’s recommendation at separate meetings prior to December 31, 2024. Appointed members’ terms will then begin January 2025.

Information submitted as a part of the application and nomination process should be considered public and may be requested as information responsive to the Texas Public Information Act.

Following the nomination committee’s recommendation, the names of the recommended appointees will be published on the ATP website two weeks prior to the appointment of the Community Expert Directors.
